Tupelo - ISHMAEL ROY I.R. REID, 94, died Sunday, December 2, 2007, at his daughters residence in Ecru after a brief illness. A native of Forrest, he was born December 4, 1912 to the late Richard Hamilton and Mollie Gunn Reid. A longtime resident of Tupelo, he owned an operated I.R. Reid's Plumbing and Electric in Skyline for 16 years and also plumbed for the public. Earlier in his life, he worked at Ingall's Ship Yard as a pipe fitter and was superintendant of buildings and grounds for Wood Junior College. He was an avid gardner and loved to watch wrestling. He was a Baptist.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Joe Holcomb and Father Henry Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Harperville Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife 27 years, Felixberta Reid of Tupelo; five children, Wallace Reid and wife, Fay Carrol, of Mantachie, Michael Reid and wife, Betty, of Ecru, Mary Ann Powell of Pontotoc, James Reid and wife, Maggie, of Tupelo, and Rose Swords,and husband, Herbert, of Ecru; six grandchildren, Ronnie Reid and wife, Lisa, of Meridian, ID, Karen Pickens and husband, Bobby, of Fresno, Calif., Christopher Reid and wife, Randi, of Pearl, Jennifer Reid of Ecru, Rena Jeannette Powell of Pontotoc, and James Brandon Reid of Tupelo; six step-grandchildren, Susan Baker, Amanda Camp, Elizabeth Stanford, Teresa Smith, Angela Garrett, and Brandy Harring; seven great-grandchildren, Brittany, Kelsey, Brice, Chloe, Lexi, Lindsay, and Tyler; three step-great-grandchildren, Corey, Christy, and Colton Chambers; special friends, neighbor #4 and Tim and Teresa Long

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Annie Mae Cox Reid; four children, Dorothy Jean Reid, Laura Jeannette Reid, and Hamilton Cox Reid, and an infant daughter; his second wife, Erma Evon Holloman Reid; one granddaughter, Thera Ranee Bryant Reid; four brothers, Duress, Dallas, Richard Hayes, and Bufard Reid; one sister, Annie Laurie Reid Waller.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Reid, Brandon Reid, Mark Swords, Brandon Holladay, Chip Riner, and Herbert Swords

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ecolee Lamb, Ronnie Reid, Bobby Pickens, Josh Freeman, and Samuel Rey Egina.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
