Hugh Allen Anderson

After fighting many battles with health problems, Hugh Allen Anderson passed away April 4, 2018. Hugh Allen was born in Tupelo on December 12, 1969 to Earl Andrew and Sarah Nell Anderson. He was a member of Verona Christian Church. He was 1988 graduate of Tupelo High School where he was a member of the band and the Decathlon Team which competed in the National Finals. He had a lifelong love of books and studied a wide variety of subjects ranging from history, movies and comics. He graduated from the University of Mississippi with a BA in History and was a member of Phi Kappa Tau. Hugh worked for the Regional Rehabilitation Center in Tupelo and had also worked with Health Link at North Mississippi Health Services.
Hugh was admired by his family and many friends for his courage and perseverance after receiving a liver transplant in 1992. Hugh enjoyed good times with his family and was known to be an entertaining storyteller and family historian.
Despite his health complications, Hugh maintained a positive attitude and was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Survivors include his mother; two brothers, Andy Anderson and his wife, Nancy of Okolona and Dr. Mark Anderson and his wife, Dr. Judy Anderson of Lookout Mountain, Georgia; several nieces and nephews, Van, Jane, Vivian, Olivia, Graham, and August Anderson and Sarah Anderson Conn and her husband, Wes of Memphis, Tennessee; and one great nephew, Cassian Hugh Conn also of Memphis.
He is preceded in death by his father; his grandparents, Merle and Earnest Seavey and Ferman and Hadie Anderson.
Services honoring his life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Tim Anderson and Rev. James Marks officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Okolona.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Pallbearers will be Lee, Paul, Phillip and Andy Sykes, Stephen Bailey and Michael Moore.
Honorary pallbearers will be all of Hugh's nieces and nephews.
