HUBERT GILLENTINE
Plantersville - HUBERT GILLENTINE, 84, died Friday, August 10, 2007, at his residence in Plantersville after an extended illness. A Lee County native, he was born September 16, 1922 to the late Claude and Viola Bennett Gillentine. Earlier in his life he had lived in the Hopewell Community of Itawamba County but had lived most of his life in Lee County. He was a retired minister of the House of Prayer Church on Plantersville-Richmond Road. He loved horses and until his health declined, spent many hours riding and trading horses. He loved attending and trading in many of the area auctions. He was a faithful member of House of Prayer Church.
Services will be 4:30 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2007 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. John McAalister and Rev. Eddie Clayton officiating. Burial will be in Andrews Chapel Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Florine Gillentine of Plantersville; two daughters, Helen Gable of Mooreville, Patricia Young of Smithville; two sons, Kenneth Gillentine of Nettleton, and Lamar Gillentine of the home; two step-sons, Larry Beard of Atlanta, Georgia, and Gary Green of Plantersville; two sisters, Claire Humble of Plantersville, and Hazel Chaney of Nettleton; one brother, Earl Gillentine of Nettleton; 25 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren..
He was preceded in death by his parents,Claude and Viola Bennett Gillentine; his second wife, Clytee Lamb Gillentine; a brother-in-law, Bill Lamb; and two great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mike Gillentine, Albert Young, Randy Presley, Gary Martin, Rev. James Gillentine, and Frank Humble.
