Tupelo - HORACE H. ROBERTS, 76, died Saturday, April 12, 2008, at The North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born December 13, 1931 to the late Buford H. and Tula Jeanette Sanders Roberts. He was raised in Clay County and after he married Lula Jane Roberts December 4, 1954 they made their home in the Skyline Community for almost 54 years. A United States Army veteran, he served in the South Pacific during the Korean Conflict. In his earlier years, he worked 10 years with Futorian before spending over 29 years as a vending machine service technician with the Pepsi Cola Company in Tupelo. He was a long time member of Allen's Chapel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working crafts and was known for his prized tomatos.
Services will be 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2008 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Sammy Washburn and Rev. Smith Whiteside officiating. Burial will be in Gilvo Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Lula Jane Roberts of the Skyline Community; two sisters, Doris Decker and Louise Breitkreutz; and one brother, Allen Eugene Roberts all of West Point.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kenny Roberts, who preceded him in death June 8, 2006; his parents; four brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.
Pallbearers will be Sid Russell, Phil Smith, Wayne Decker, Eddie Decker, Billy Breitkreutz, Ronnie Roberts, Terry Roberts, Glen Roberts, Steve Franks and Jeff Franks.
