Saltillo- Genell Homer Lester, 82, died Friday, March 8, 2019. A life-long resident of Saltillo, she was born July 26, 1936 to Ed and Gracie Dunaway Homer. Genell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved the Lord. In her younger years, she enjoyed gardening and fishing. She was a member of Mayfield Church of Christ.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandy Raines (Frank) of Saltillo, Cathy Raines of Saltillo and Bonnie Dill of Pontotoc; sister, Lucille Homer of Saltillo; four grandchildren, Jessica Ellward (John), Valerie Hendrix (Logan), Jonathan Raines and Starlon Davis (Clay); and great-grandchildren, Brianna Ellward, Kevin Johnson, Kylee Ellward, Paisley Hendrix, Averly Raines, Graham Hartley and Hannah Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gracie and Ed Homer; husband, Cemous Lester; son, James Eddie Lester; three sisters, Agnes, Pauline and Earline; two brothers, Bobby and R.D.; and two sons-in-law, Jerome and Audie.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at W.E. Pegues, Saltillo.
Services honoring her life will be 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at the Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Bro. Murrill Floyd officiating. Burial will be in Mayfield Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Thrasher, Jackie Thrasher, Greg Nichols, Scott Palmer, Mark Jackson and Rickey Jackson.
