Hilma Eola Stone Marlin

Clovis, California formerly of Tupelo- Hilma Eola Stone Marlin, 100, died Friday, June 7, 2019 at Armenian Home in Fresno, California. She was born near Tremont November 20, 1918 to Claude Acklee Stone and Ida Bell Gregory and was a long-time resident of Tupelo. She was a 1936 graduate of East Tupelo High School and later became a licensed beautician. On February 2, 1941, she married Watson Marlin and they remained married for 60 years until his passing on April 4, 2001. She was an active member of Tupelo Free Will Baptist Church until she moved to be closer to her daughter.

Survivors include her daughter, Anna-Jean Walley and her husband, Rev. Wendell Walley of Clovis; son-in-law, Dr. Dennis Lowry of Dunn, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Tamara Walley of Clovis, Rev. Trent Walley and his wife, Jennifer of Clovis, Rev. Brad Lowry and his wife, Carrie of Dunn, Brian Lowry and his wife, Trenda of Gaffney, South Carolina, and Beth Nighswonger and her husband, Patrick of Dunn; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Myra Lynn Lowry.

Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2019 at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo.

Services honoring her life will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2019 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues. Burial will follow at Fawn Grove Cemetery.
