Hettyola Cook Harrell

HETTYOLA HARRELL Saltillo - Hettyola Cook Harrell, 79, died Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the Sanctuary Hospice House after a short illness. A Jackson native, she was born November 1, 1933, to Andy and Ola Summerlin Cook. She was a graduate of Tech High School in Memphis, Tennessee and was a longtime resident of Saltillo. She retired from the Mississippi Forestry Commission after 25 years of service. She also served as an officer in the Salvation Army Church in Tupelo. She loved to read, watch old movies and never met a stranger. She was a member of the All Saints Episcopal Church where she was involved in the Daughters of the King Ladies group. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2013 at the All Saints Episcopal Church in Tupelo with Father Paul Stanford officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Benny Harrell of Saltillo; six children, Duane Harrell (Lynn) and Debra Thorpe (Pete) both of Bartlett, Tennessee, Robert "Bob" Christensen of Louisville, Kentucky, Doris Loyd (Roger) of Saltillo, Debbie Christensen of Memphis, Tennessee and Tim Harrell (Regina) of Saltillo; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Pallbearers will be Andy Gusmus, Tom Smith, Lonnie Neaves, Roger Loyd, Clifton Homan and Steven Gumm. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Harrell's domino playing buddies. Visitation will be 5 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2013, at the All Saints Episcopal Church and continued 10 - 10:45 a.m. Monday.
