Tupelo -Herbert Odell "Pop" Guin, 88, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Pontotoc. He was born in Prentiss county April 26, 1929, to Tom and Alice Hall Guin. After losing his father at an early age, Pop moved around with his brother quite a bit and worked as a share cropper. In May of 1952, he married the love of his life, the former Myriam Brock. Pop served his country for several years in the United States Army after a brief enlistment in the National Guard. He was the owner of Lee County Foam for most of his adult life and had also owned the Depot Cafe on South Spring Street. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing in bass tournaments. He was a long time active member of the Gloster Street Church of Christ. Pop was above average when taking care of his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include wife, Myriam Guin; one daughter, Deb Roebuck and her husband, Danny of Pontotoc; four grandchildren, Ben Bass and girlfriend, Maggie Price of Pontotoc, Clay Roebuck and his girlfriend, Heather Lowry of Pontotoc, Heather Roebuck of Pontotoc, Corey Roebuck and his wife, Tory of Ocean Springs; and three great-grandchildren, Brady Bass, Will Roebuck and Riley Roebuck.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and three sisters.
Visitation will be 12 p.m. until service time Sunday, February 25, 2018, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Minister Chad Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Louis Cervantes, Dennie Smith, George Heath, Rusty Palmer, Carlton Plunk and Tony Milam.
Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Smith, Billy Putt, Harold White, Paul Callens, Monte Key, Gary Martin, James Segars and Wayne Washington.
