HENRY A. ROBERTS
Tupelo - HENRY AULVURN ROBERTS, 94, died Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at his residence after an extended illness. A Union County native, he was born January 26, 1913 to the late Henry F. and Georgia Colvin Roberts. He was a carpenter from Leake and Goodlette for 40 years. He also worked as an independent carpenter for many years after his retirement. He was the widow of Cora Monez Roberts who preceded him in death September 19, 2006. He enjoyed working in his yard and gardening. He was a longtime and faithful member of Tupelo Freewill Baptist Church where he served as deacon. He will be remembered as a strong prayer warrior.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Tupelo Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Haas and Rev. Terry Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Priceville Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his son, James Wilford Roberts and wife, Betty, of Tupelo; six grandchildren, Fred McDonald and wife, Holly, of Knoxville, Tenn., Lynn Still and husband, Malcom, of New Albany, Cindy Cox and husband, Wright, of Collierville, Tenn., Don Roberts and wife, Mary Ruth, of Tupelo, Anita Key and husband, Dana, of collierville, Mark Roberts and wife, Angelia, of Tupelo; 18 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Kerion Russell of Tupelo, Wanda Gilmore of Tupelo, and Faye Pegues of Pontotoc; one brother, John Roberts of Tupelo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Claude, Charlie, Grady and Gene Roberts.
Pallbearers will be Fred McDonald, Don Roberts, Mark Roberts, Malcolm Still, Dana Key and Wright Cox.
His great-grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be 5 to8 Friday at the funeral home.
