Henry Lemmons

December 9, 1940 — November 8, 2008

Tupelo - Henry Lemmons, 67, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 8, 2008, after a sudden illness while at the North Mississippi Medical Center. A life-long resident of Lee County, he was born December 9, 1940 to Horace and Kathleen Lemmons.

He was married to Patsy Bingham Lemmons on December 22, 1968, and was anticipating celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary and the birth of his first grandchild in March 2009.

After graduating from Tupelo High School in 1958, he worked at Mid-South Packers/Southern Belle Foods for 26 years where he retired as President.

He stayed employed in the meat packing industry as the owner and founder of S & L Brokers since 1984. He joined the Mississippi National Guard in 1962, was a member of First Evangelical Church, loved working in his yard, an avid animal lover, and spending time with his family and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 10, 2008 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Tim Lampley officiating. Burial will be in Campbelltown Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Lea Anne Lemmons of Oxford; one son, Henry "Sonny" Lemmons (Ashley) of Miami, FL; three sisters, Sue Goggans, Betty Ann Hammock and Kathleen Armstrong; two brothers, Horace Bud Lemmons and Robbie Lemmons; two special nephews, Joey Bingham and Benjamin Bingham (Suzanne); one special niece, Amanda McCarthy (Daniel); three special great nephews, Reed Bingham, Cooper Bingham and Drew McCarthy; one special great niece, Ella McCarthy; one special cousin, Dr. Robert Irwin that helped him and his family through the past four months; one special aunt, Mildred Irwin; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Jamie Bingham.

Pallbearers will be Robert W. Rogers, Norm Trotter, Earl Yielding, Morgan Whitfield, Dan Williams, Greg Stanton , Sylvester King, Thomas Allen May, and Ken Giles

Honorary Pallbearers will be Art Reimann and Jim Bain.
