HELEN WAMMACK Tupelo - Helen Wammack, 83, died Thursday, January 3, 2013, at Community Hospice at Darlington Oaks in Verona after a short illness. She was born March 28, 1929, in New Albany to Everett and Tishey Lou Melton Owen. She was a member of West Jackson Street Baptist Church. A devoted mother and grandmother, she was very involoved in the lives of her family. Services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2013 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Bert Harper officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Cemetery. Survivors include her two sons, Mike Wammack (Becky) of Sallis and David Wammack (Sherrie) of Tupelo; six grandchildren, Josh Wammack (Anita) of Yahoo City, Savannah and Shiloh Wammack of Sallis, and Mariann, Lee and Brayden Wammack of Belden; two great-grandchildren, Ashlynn and Tyler Wammack; brother, Harris Owen of Dumas; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Wammack of Belden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Wammack; her parents, Everett and Tishey Lou Owen. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the funeral home.
