Tupelo - Helen Elizabeth Keirle Turner, 100, died Monday, December 6, 2010, at Green Houses At Traceway. She was born January 12, 2010 in Bunker Hill, IL. The daughter of Frank and Annie May Younger Keirle, she graduated as a registered nurse in 1931, from the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, Mo. She married Dr. J.D. Turner from Saltillo on March 28, 1932. in addition to assisting her husband in his practice, she played the piano for her Sunday School Class, was an excellent seamstress, and loved cooking. She served on the First United Methodist Church of Tupelo Administrative Board and as Secretary of the Board for a number of years. She counted and delivered the "Upper Room" Devotional booklet for over 40 years.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. Don Baggett officiating. Burial will be in Saltillo Cemetery.
Survivors include her sons, Frank Turner (Jeanne) of Tupelo and Harold Turner (Barbara) of Germantown, Tenn.; a granddaughter, Julie Pickle (Jerry); grandsons, Tommy (Kristen), David (Sarah), and Justin Turner; great-grandsons, Brian (Christy), Matthew Pickle (Ashlin) and Jon Pickle; great-granddaughters, Brooke Newsom (Blake), Emily and Laura Turner and great-great-granddaughter, Calyn.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home.
