Tupelo - Helen Richardson, 82, died Monday, May 31, 2010, at her residence after an extended illness. A native of Dekalb, she was born May 3, 1928, to Robert Morgan and Esther Smith Harmon. She worked for the Public Health system for over 20 years and ended her career as office manager of the Lee County Health Department. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and taking care of her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church where she served as a member of the McClellan Class and taught children's Sunday School.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Frank Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include one daughter, Jane Honnet (Randy) of Prattville, Ala.; two sons, Fred Richardson (Linda) of Shannon and Howard Richardson Jr.(Angie) of Fairbanks, Alaska; five grandchildren, Melissa Manning (Jaysen), Melanie Wood (Josh), Matt Richardson, Dana Richardson, and Robert Honnet; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Doris Crawford and Eunice Ellis; numerous caregivers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of more than 50 years, Howard Richardson who died in 2001.
Pallbearers will be Matt Richardson, Robert Honnet, Jaysen Manning, and Josh Wood.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
