Tupelo - Helen N. Govatos, 96, died Friday, June 16, 2006, at Rosewood Residence after an extended illness. A Houston, Texas native, she was born December 7, 1909 to the late Nick and Diane Giannukos. She was a homemaker.
Trisagion Services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Tex. and funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will be in Seaside Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the local arrangements.
Survivors include her nephew, George L. Govatos; a great-niece, Helen G. Thompson and husband, John, all of Tupelo; a great-nephew, Lee G. Govatos of Waco, Tex.; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews..
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Clem Govatos; her parents; two sisters, Fofo Sfiris and Georgia Platis; and two brothers, John and Sam Govatos.
Memorials may be made to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, PO Box 343, Corpus Christi, TX 78403.
