TUPELO - Helen Thorne Eskridge, 68, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006, at her home after a long illness. She was born June 19, 1937, to Dr. Edward Alston Thorne and Ruth O'Hara Thorne of Holly Springs. She was a graduate of Millsaps College and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tupelo. She was an avid reader, a lifelong athlete, a generous friend and a loving mother. She was an inspiration to many, a faithful presence at the NMMC Wellness Center, and was loved by a wide circle of friends throughout her life.
A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Bill McAlilly officiating.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Eskridge Frazier of Jackson and Laurel Catherine Eskridge of Austin, Texas; a son-in-law, Dr. William Frazier of Jackson; two grandchildren, Alex and Catherine Frazier of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
