Helen Anita Smith Enis

Glenview, IL - Helen Anita Smith Enis, 84, died peacefully at home on January 17, 2007. She was born October 1, 1922 in Tupelo, MS. She was a life long member of the Methodist Church (St. Luke United Methodist Church, Tupelo, MS and Christ United Methodist Church, Deerfield, IL); a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a former member of the Pilot Club of Mississippi.

She married William "Bill Enis in 1947 and started their family in Tupelo, MS. In 1966 they moved and settled in Deerfield, IL. She became an active parent in her childrens school activities as well as a volunteer working with Meals on Wheels; the Deerfield Public Library; the League of Women Voters; Chicago Botanic Gardens; Questers and numerous church committees. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening and genealogy.

She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, aunt and friend who will be missed by all who were fortunate to know her.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill Enis, her parents, Ross and Laurie Smith, and her sister, Martha Alice Smith Secan.

Survivors include her children, John Bruce Enis (Linda) of Skokie, IL, Martha Helen Enis Heilman (Patrick) of Glenview, IL; Jane Elizabeth Enis of Tupelo, MS/Glenview, IL and Rebecca Ross Enis Nordeen (Robert) of Wildwood, IL; her grandchildren, Marisa Helen Heilman, Elizabeth Brooke Heilman Odhner (Chad), Lindsey Virginia Nordeen, William Ross Nordeen and her great-grandchild, Raine Ainsley Odhner; brother-in-laws; sister-in-laws; nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Stephen Ross Secan, David W. Henson Sr. and Terry Dale Helms.

A Memorial Service will be held on January 27, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with the Rev. Mike Hicks officiating. Private burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at 12:00 noon to service time at the funeral home.
