Palmetto - Helen Bryant Cobb, 85, died Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. A native of Raleigh, she was born October 30, 1922, to the late Pete and Eula Kennedy Bryant. She married Rev. Joe Cobb July 23, 1944. During their years of ministry, they served churches in Adamsville, Tenn., Stuttgart, Ark., and Dyersburg, Tenn. A longtime resident of the Palmetto Community,s she had been a very active and faithful member of Verona Christian Church. She enjoyed cross word puzzles and working in her yard. Her greatest priority was taking care of her family.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Thom Perry and Rev. Jim Adkins officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Rev. Joe Cobb of the V.A. Nursing Home in Oxford; Karen Frazier and husband, Jim, of Adamsville, Tenn.; two sons, Dennis Cobb of Palmetto and Daniel Cobb of Dyersburg, Tenn.; her twin brother, Herbert "Hub" Bryant of Bazoria, Tex; one sister, Blanche Holder of Bay Springs; six grandchildren, Terri Bolin of Selmer, Tenn., Traci Watson of Tupelo, Sherri Rhodes of Henderson, Tenn., Lora Mask of Tupelo, Chris Cobb of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Amanda Mitchell of St. Louis, Mo.; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Kelly, and Oree Bryant.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Pannell, Brett Bolin, Chris Cobb, David Long, Bert Washington, and Joe McKinney.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
