HELEN BUTLER
Tupelo--Helen Bulter, 89, died Saturday, June 10 at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was a native of Lee County, born to John Hugh Scruggs and Dora Price Scruggs. She was the long time owner of Helen Butler's Beauty Salon in Tupelo and a member of Chesterville Baptist Church. She was a member of the Altrusia Club. She loved to hunt and fish and was an avid race fan. She was the widow of Rex Butler
Services willbe 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E.Pegues with Rev. Sammy Coker and Rev. Bryan Collier officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include one sister, Monette Vaughn of Memphis; one brother, Walter Scruggs and wife, Virginia of Tupelo; two sisters-in-law, Nita Butler of Tupelo and Bessie Scruggs of Peachtree, Georgia; one brother-in-law, Jessie Miles of Tupelo; several nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and several brothers and sisters.
Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
