Pontocola - Hazel Grace Barnes, 69, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after a sudden illness. A Pontocola native and lifelong resident, she was born May 20, 1939 to Archie C. and Vera Ivy Barnes. She was the owner of a cleaning service. She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, reading, and her two cats, Teddy and Pumpkin. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Shannon.
Services will be 3 p.m. Friday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Don Sparks and Rev. Dean Moody officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery, west of Shannon.
Survivors include two sisters, Pearl Garrett and husband, John, and Mable Jane Price, all of Shannon; several nieces and nephews..
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Marcell Loyd; and two brothers-in-law, Harold Loyd and Johnnie Price.
Pallbearers will be her nephews.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service time Friday at the funeral home.
