Tupelo - Hazel Weant, 94, died Friday, October 1, 2010, at The North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born July 24, 1916 in Salisbury, North Carolina to William and Tilley Doss. After her high school graduation, she attended a private finishing school. She was a long-time resident of Tupelo, member of the Tupelo Country Club and an avid bridge player. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and remained active until declining health. A caring and loving homemaker, she was devoted to her husband and children.
A celebration of her life will be 1 p.m. Monday, October 4, 2010 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Steve Hurt officiating. Additional services will be at Summersett Funeral Home in Salisbury, North Carolina. Burial will be in Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury, North Carolina.
Survivors include two sons, John A. Weant of Lexington, TN and David A. Weant (Nell) of Germantown, TN; one daughter, Carol E. Weant of Salibury, NC; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren
She was preceded in death on July 20, 2010 by her husband of 71 years, Graham Haywood Weant; her parents; four brothers; one sister.
Visitation will be Noon until service time Monday at the funeral home.
