Hazel Montague

HAZEL MONTAGUE Tupelo - Hazel Lehman Montague, 99, died Thursday, October 22, 2015, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born December 12, 1915 to Cyrus Cale and Ester Alice Harnell Lehman. Hazel was a nurse anesthetist at North Mississippi Medical Center. She started working when there were only 50 beds and after 39 years of service, she retired in 1979. Hazel loved church and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where she played the organ for over fifty years, was active in Sunday School and the GA's and the choir. She loved to cook, read and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Lowell Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include three grandchildren, Beverly Rusoe of San Diego, California, Cheryl England of Saltillo and Scott Montague of Tupelo; three great-grandchildren, Clay Rusoe, Ty Nichols, and Cale England; great-great-granddaughter, Aubrey Monroe Nichols. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Raymond Charles Montague and her grandson, Montague Grant "Monty" Nichols. Visitation will be 4 until 7 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2015 at W. E.
