HAZEL NELL MCLARTY Tupelo - Hazel Nell McLarty, 76, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013, at the Golden Living Center after an extended illness. A Mississippi native, she was born December 14, 1936, to Robert and Stella Tackitt Black. She worked at the Oxford Hospital for many years and later became a long-time self-employed caregiver. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and especially listening to gospel music. She had a strong sense of humor and took great pleasure in picking on the ones she loved. She was of the Baptist faith. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery in Oxford. Survivors include three sisters, Nona Little (Bobby) and Shirley Evans both of Saltillo and Helen Gable (Jerry) of Tupelo; one brother, Leon Black (Clara) of Mooreville; one sister-in-law, Marie Black of Tupelo and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Rodgers and her second husband, Gene McLarty; three sisters, Sue Byrd, Jimmie Ellis, and Janie Estes; two brother, John Henry Black and Romie Black. Pallbearers will be Jerry and Michael Gable, David Mann, Robert Ellis and Randy and Andy Black. Visitation will be 11 a.m. till service time Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at the funeral home.
