HAZEL MCDONALD Union Community - Hazel McDonald, 87, went to be with the Lord Friday, June 29, 2012, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born May 1, 1925, in Tupelo to George Washington and Myrtle Lloyd Hankins and lived in the Tupelo area all her life. She worked for Hunter Saddler for 14 years, H. I. S. in Verona for 9 years and was Co-owner of McDonalds Day Care. She was a member of Emmanuel Assembly of God Church in Nettleton. Her family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Rickey Parker and her nurses for all the extra care and concern shown during her illness. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 2, 2012 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Phil Wood and Rev. Jesse Strider officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Survivors include two sons, Phillip McDonald (Leslie) of Union Community and Scott McDonald (Lori) of Mooreville; two daughters, Judy Justice (Harold) of Tupelo and Janice Gann (Leon) of Mantachie; one brother, Terry Hankins, (Jeanette)of Union Community; one sister, Shirley Robbins (Delbert) of Tupelo; twelve grandchildern, Michael, Matthew, and Christopher Gann, Tammy Lee, Teresa Williams, Danny, David and Dennis McDonald and Blain Bush who was her special caregiver, Bradley Reeves, Amanda Reeves and Victorya McDonald; two step-grandchildren, James and Scotty Poteet; thirty great-grandchildren and seventeen great great-granchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Calvin McDonald on January 14, 1997; three brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Danny, David and Dennis McDonald, Matt, Michael and Christopher Gann and Bradley Reeves. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012 at the funeral home.
