HAZEL BALLARD
Plantersville - HAZEL BALLARD, 89, died Friday, April 14, 2006, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Lee County native, she was born September 28, 1916 to the late Stanley and Ona Morgan Birmingham. She was a charter member of the Iris Club and Daylilly Club and a longtime and faithful member of the Unity Presbyterian Church where she will be remembered for arranging the flowers each Sunday morning.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2006 at Unity Presbyterian Church, east of Plantersville with Rev. Lewis Norowetz officiating. Burial will be in Unity Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Custred and husband, Clifford, of Birmingham, Ala., and Betty Elliott of Orlando; one son, Douglas Ballard of Atlantis, Fla.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 72 years, Lee Roy Ballard.
Pallbearers will be Mark, Bradley, and Mitchell Custred, Larry and Jason Copus.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and at the church Monday 10:30 a.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Unity Presbyterian Cemetery Fund.
