Harold Hughes

Blue Springs - Harold Hughes Sr., 63, died Friday, April 17, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born July 9, 1945, in Cleveland to Dalton and Clara Owens Hughes. He was raised in Marks and then went on to play basketball at Northwest Junior College. For seven years he served in the United States Army Reserve. As an adult he lived over 30 years in Tupelo and the last five years in Blue Springs.. He spent most of his working years in Automotive Sales, most recently at Belk Ford in Oxford. He attended Fairfield Presbyterian Church, was an avid golfer, and also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2009 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Steve Graham officiating. A eulogy will be given by Rodney Rodgers. Burial will be in Bruce Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Sherry Hughes of Blue Springs; two sons, Harold Hughes, Jr. and wife, Lori, of Fulton and Corey Hughes and wife, Alisha, of Tupelo; five grandchildren, Trip Hughes, Chance Hughes, Taylor Hughes, Dalton Hughes and Ella Hughes; two sisters, Reba Hawkins of Bruce and Rose Callis of Eads, Tennessee; one brother, Culley Hughes of Tupelo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be his nephews.

Visitation will be 12-2 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2009 at the funeral home.
