HAROLD GAMBRELL Tupelo - Harold Ross Gambrell, 74, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 13, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, East in Memphis. He was born February 24, 1940, to Harry Ross and Cora Robison Gambrell. Harold enjoyed reading, watching Westerns, Fox News and was an avid deer hunter and lover of nature. He was known as a salt of the earth man who was kind to all. Harold was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who adored his family and prayed daily for them. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Mark Howard and Rev. Jonathan McIntosh officiating. Graveside services will follow in Union Cemetery, near Belden. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his wife of nearly 40 years, Linda Gambrell of Tupelo; two daughters, Kimberly Gambrell Crausby (Shane) of Pontotoc and Ashley Gambrell McIntosh (Jonathan) of Memphis, Tennesee; one brother, Lewis "Dude" Gambrell (Brenda) of Tupelo; four grandchildren, Gentry Kyle, Cora McIntosh, Nola McIntosh and Vera McIntosh. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Margaret Cochran. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Lindsey and Lewis Cochran and the Deacons of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2014 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo. Memorials may be made to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 931 Mt. Vernon Road Tupelo, MS 38801.
