HAROLD WAYNE COLLIER
Tupelo - Harold Wayne Collier, 69, died Monday, February 12, 2007, at North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. A Plantersville native, he was born September 8, 1937 to the late John Jefferson and Maudie Vera Gillentine Collier. He was He had worked at AirCap and Blue Bell for several years and also for Greyhound Bus Lines in delivery service. In his earlier years, he served as a Boy Scout Leader, taking his troop to Philmont BSA Ranch in New Mexico. He also served as a soccer coach for Tupelo Park and Recreation for elementary age boys. Earlier in life he enjoyed horseback riding, deer hunting, and bowling. In recent years, he enjoyed camping and fishing with close friends, Linda Denham, Joy Denham and Christa Young. He was a member of Centerhill Baptist Church of Plantersville where she served as a deacon.
Services will be 10:30 p.m. Thursday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Tim Tutor officiating. Burial will be in Priceville Cemetery.
Survivors include his son, Jonathan Wayne Collier of Corinth; his sister, Alcie M. Winders and husband, Joseph (Joe),of Maryville, Tenn., his aunt, Mary Alice Christian of Tupelo; the mother of his son, Ann Swindle Robinson of Fulton; two nephews, Joseph Winders, Jr., and wife, Debby, of Maryville, Tenn., and Stephen Collier of Tupelo; four nieces, Toni Burns and husband Terry, of Jasper, Tenn., Lynne Winders of Knoxville, Tenn., Janet Daugherty and husband, Doyle, of Maryville, Tenn., and Marsha Pollard and husband, David, of Booneville; and a host of cousins and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 1987, his father in 1983, a younger brother, Michael Allen Collier, in 1999, and several aunts.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
