Harold Nelson Christian

HAROLD NELSON CHRISTIAN Mooreville - Harold Nelson Christian, 85, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at Sanctuary Hospice House. He was born in Lee County on November 7, 1929 to Dexter Walker and Mattie Vola Pierce Christian. A graduate of East Tupelo High School, Harold then attended Itawamba Junior College and William Carey College in Hattiesburg. He also served in the Mississippi Army National Guard. He worked for many years in the circulation department of the Daily Journal and was a member of Auburn Baptist Church. He enjoyed trading and collecting. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2015 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Jimmy Henry and Rev. Phillip McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Darlene Gentry Christian of Tupelo; two daughters, Patti Kemp (Tommy) of Mooreville and Teresa Reno (Toby) of Kingsport, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Thomas Christian Kemp of Mooreville and Ashley Reno Cotey (Ben) of Atlanta, Georgia; great-grandson, Andrew Benjamin Cotey; three sisters, Sue Sudduth (Dan) of Asheville, North Carolina, Fay Bell (Fred) of Columbus and Rachel Maxwell (Charles) of Mooreville; brother, Ray Christian (Jane) of Mooreville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dexter and Mattie Pierce Christian; his grandparents, Thomas and Mary Christian and Nelson and Susie Benefield Pierce. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Mens II Sunday School Class of Auburn Baptist Church. Visitation will be 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2015 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
