Harold Burleson

Mooreville - Harold F. Burleson, 88, died Saturday, September 4, 2010, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born September 15, 1921 to Otis and Bessie Garmon Burleson. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II stationed at Pearl Harbor. He was a farmer and never lost his love for farming. He worked at Crafted Woods, Stone Container, Town and Country, and finally retired in 1999 from the City of Tupelo at the age of 78. He was a people person, who had many friends and loved animals.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Joey Swords officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery in Palmetto Community.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Avis Burleson of Mooreville; three daughters, Donna Burleson Clingan, his caregiver, Kathy Marks and Pam Hand (Gerald); one son, Roger Clippard (Carolyn); 12 grandchildren, Mandi Burleson, Michael Brandon Stanford (Stephanie), Brittany Shay Stanford, Jennifer Farrar (William), Kitty Hand, Lesley Hand Smith, Hannah Hand Chunn (Josh), Gerald Hand II (Michelle), David Clippard (Tammy), Kim Sullivan, Chris Clippard and Kay Clippard; 24 great grandchildren, Caden Michael Stanford, Macey Harlow Burleson, Bentlee Austin Stanford, Zoe, Penelope, Charlotte, Abby, Chaise, Jackson, Dustin, Blake, Tyler, Hayden, Ashley, Zack, Angel, Nathan, Carley, Josh, Leah, Taylor, Samantha, Jordan and Alex; one great-great grandchild, Holly Blair; one sister, Tahnell Stone; special friend and cousin, Patricia Weaver Hood.

He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Roger Clippard, Jr.; one sister, Ann Shackett.

Pallbearers will be Michael Brandon Stanford, William Farrar, Chaise Farrar, Levi Peoples, David Clippard, Chris Clippard, Brent Adkins and Chop Smith.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Caden Michael Stanford, Jackson Farrar, Milton Justice and Willie Gardner.

Visitation will be 3 5 p.m. Sunday, September 6, 2010 at the funeral home.
