AUBURN " H.C. "Bill" Wallace, 84, died Friday, May 23, 2008, at his sons residence after an extended illness. An Itawamba County native, he was born April 16, 1924, and had been a resident of the Auburn community since 1944. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He participated in the Normandy invasion and served two years in Europe, including France and Germany. He was employed by Bryan and Rogers as shop manager for 16 years.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Merl Floyd officiating. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Tim Wallace (Glenda) and Terry Wallace (Dana), all of Auburn; one sister, Bonnie Kopie of Allentown, Pa.; three grandchildren, Wesley Wallace of Pontotoc, and Jessica Wallace and Adam Wallace, both of Auburn; special friend and caregiver, Birdie Palmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Lillian Wallace; his wife, Buford Wallace; and three sisters and two brothers.

Pallbearers will be Billy Evans, Mike McGloflin, Lester Palmer, Jimmy Wallace, Hudson Bryan, Tony White, Lamar Pettigrew and Bobby Wallace.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
