GWEN BLACKWELL
Tupelo - Gwen Blackwell, 83, died Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Tupelo native and lifelong resident, she was born September 19, 1923 to the late James and Cletus Young Blackwell. She was a 1940 graduate of Tupelo High School and attended The University of Alabama. She later graduated from Miss Wylie's School of Business in Memphis, Tenn. She worked as a bookkeeper at the family business, Tupelo Products Company, retiring after 47 years. She was an avid reader and loved her dogs. She was a faithful and dedicated member of First Baptist Church.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Randy Von Kanel officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include one sister, Joan Blackwell of Tupelo and several cousins
Pallbearers will be Buster Brooks, Tommy Cobb, Ron Blackwell, David Blackwell, John Boggan.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
