Saltillo - Gueary Thomas "Tom" Reed, Jr., 72, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 due to an automobile accident. A native of Cookville, Tenn., he was born March 20, 1936 to the late Gueary Thomas Reed, Sr and Gola Stinson Reed. He graduated from Lynnville High School and then went on to University of Tennessee at Martin where he earned his engineering degree. He worked for Daybrite Capri Omega for 30 years, retiring as the engineering manager in 2001. He was well loved by everyone and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. He enjoyed playing golf, riding motorcycles, yard work and gardening. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Mike Hicks and Rev. Rickey Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jo Reed, Saltillo; one daughter, Tami Miles and husband, Tony, of Tupelo; two sons, Gueary Thomas Reed, III and wife, Sheila, of Baldwyn and David Gray Reed and wife, Banita, of Collierville, Tenn.; three sisters, Rose Marie Brigham of Dover, Tenn., Avalee Bobo and husband, Frank, of Lynchburg, Tenn., and Geri Fendley and husband, Ben, of Clarksville, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Dena Marie Miles of Tupelo, Daniel Mabry and wife, Ashley, of St. Charles, Mo., Travis Reed Miles of Tupelo, Hannah Pryor of Baldwyn, Kennedy Gray Reed of Collierville, Tenn., and Kayce Lydia Reed of Collierville; one great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Miles of Tupelo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Will R. Brigham.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Michael Medlen, Mart Fendley, Bill Fendley, Andy Brigham, Nat Medlen, Chip Medlen, Frank Fletcher, and Kerry Dove

Honorary Pallbearers will be the engineering department of Daybrite.

Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008 at the funeral home.
