TupeloGregory Ryne Talley, 17, died suddenly Wednesday, July 28, 2004, as the result of an automobile accident between Carthage and Philadelphia, along with his friends, driver Matthew Holdington and passenger Casey Ellington of Kosciusko. A native of Tupelo, he was about to begin his senior year at Tupelo High School. An active sportsman, he played for both the high school varsity football and baseball teams, and church basketball. He was a Christian and a member of The Orchard United Methodist Congregation of Tupelo, where he enjoyed fellowship and worship services. An avid Cubs baseball fan and car racing fan, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at the Orchard United Methodist Congregation with Dr. Bryan Collier, Dr. Randy Von Kanel, and Dr. David Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his mother, Dana Dickerson, his father, Greg Talley, a sister, Payton Dickerson, and a brother, Hunter Talley, all of Tupelo; his grandparents, Bud and Dot Talley of Verona, and Bobby Gene Harrelson and Dot Harrelson of Tupelo; aunts and uncles, Pete and Traci Harrelson of Pontocola, Charles and Anita Hutchison of Baton Rouge, La., Kelly and Charles Watson of Tupelo, Lisha Crouch of Tupelo, and Chuck and Jan Knapp of Tupelo; great-uncles and great-aunts, Bubba and Carolyn Homan of Tupelo, Zeke and Jean Homan of Long Beach, Evelyn Duncan of Tupelo, Frances Jo Calloway of Tupelo, Johnny and Doris Long of Pontotoc, Carl and Mary Lou Burton of Gap, Pa., and Charles and Barbara Talley of Palmetto, and Evelyn Bryan of Guntown, Jack and Jerry Nanney of Tupelo, and Frances Buskirk of Tupelo; many cousins.
He was preceded in death byu his grandmother, Louise Homan Kirk.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Stacks, Jake Lee, Craig Langley, Luke Atkins, Matt Anderson, Chris Bennett, Drew Bennett, and Seth Renick.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Tupelo High School football and basball teams and the Tupelo High School Class of 2005.
Visitation will be from noon to service time today at the church.
