Tupelo - GRACE P. BRILEY, 84, died Thursday, January 17, 2008, at her residence after an extended illness. A Lee County native, she was born September 25, 1923, to the late Martin Luther and Mary Sue Richey Payne. She had lived in the Belden Community for about 60 years. She was a member of Belden United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Danny Wilburn officiating. Burial will be in Belden Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Kay McCarter of Brewer; one son, Bobby Briley and wife, Melba, of Tupelo; one sister, Francis Powell of Tupelo; one sister-in-law, Dovie Rushing of Sweetwater, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Savannah McCarter, Kellea Creely (Lee), Megan Buhle (David), Susan Davis (Jerry) and Wink Briley (Katrina), Tommy Hopper (Abbi) and Timmy Hopper (Jennifer); eight great-grandchildren, Brent Creely, Jacob Creely, Bailey Whitehead, John Patrick Buhle, and George Daniel Buhle, Shelby Davis, Taylor Davis, and Chelsea Davis; and her caregiver, Gayle Carter of Pontotoc
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Briley and a brother, Ray Payne.
Pallbearers will be Charles Kitchens, Calvin Turner, Alvin Vinson, Wayne Hughes, Lee Creely, and Jerry Davis.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
