Osceola, Ark - Gloria Ann Polly Mills, 65, died Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born January 30, 1943 in the Evergreen Community. A 1960 graduate of Itawamba Agricultural High School, she then went on to Delta State University where she graduated with a degree in education. Shortly thereafter, she began her teaching career in Osceola, Ark., where she taught in several elementary schools, retiring in 2003 after 35 years of service. She enjoyed taking care of her pet cats. She was a member of Evergreen United Methodist Church.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Lance Presley and Rev. Jimmy Criddle officiating. Burial will be in New Chapel Cemetery.
Survivors include her mother, Glema Erwin of Evergreen Community; one sister, Brenda Adams-Daugherty and husband, Dick, of Evergreen; one brother, Dixon Mills and wife, Rachel, of Brandon; one niece, Anita Jaggers of Black Zion Community; three nephews, Raden Adams of Evergreen, Ricky Mills of Brandon, and Andy Mills of Boston, Mass.
Pallbearers will be Barry Jaggers, Cole Jaggers, Jack Nichols, Dick Daugherty, Ricky Mills, and Mike Duckworth.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m Wednesday at the funeral home.
