Glendora Ford Barber

June 21, 1920 — November 13, 2009

Tupelo - Glendora Ford Barber, 89, died Friday, November 13, 2009, at Green Houses at Traceway. She was born June 21, 1920 in McComb to Thomas Earl and Julia Pearl Ford. She retired after 21 years with the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (the "ASCS"), an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture. After retirement she began a second career as a real estate agent in Greenwood. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Immaculate Heart of Mary in Greenwood where she attended Mass daily for 50 years until she moved to Tupelo in 1988 after the death of her husband. She then attended St. James Catholic Church and attended Mass daily until her illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, November 16, 2009 at St. James Catholic Church with Father Tom Lalor officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m.at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Greenwood. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her daughter, Gwen Barber Sanders (Dr. C. J. Sanders) of Tupelo; one granddaughter, Claire Jenkins (B.G.) of Tupelo; two grandsons, Judge Dave Sanders (Bobbie) of Greenville and Chris Sanders (Jessica) of Dallas, Texas; four great grandchildren, Abbey Sanders, Emma Sanders, Caleb Sanders and Ford Jenkins; one sister, Jacquelin Grant of Jackson.

She was preceded in death in 1988 by her husband of 48 years, Guy "Red" Barber; her son, David Barber, in 1960.

Pallbearers will be Dr. John Sanders, Ronnie Sanders, John Sanders, Taylor Sanders, Doug Grant and Maurice Roy.

A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 15, 2009 at the funeral home with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the St. James Catholic Church, 845 Lakeshire Dr. Tupelo, Miss 38801.
