GLADYS WELCH

SOUTHAVEN - Gladys Welch, 84, died Friday, March 10, 2006, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven after a sudden illness. She was born Oct. 1, 1921, in New Albany to the late James and Kelly Yarbrough Taylor. She was a longtime resident of Tupelo and had been living in Southaven for about a year. She worked as a seamstress for Blue Bell. She enjoyed crocheting and was a member of Doty Chapel Baptist Church.

Stateroom services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at W. E. Pegues on Jefferson Street with the Dr. Marvin Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include one daughter, Pamela Potts of Southaven; four sons, Larry Taylor and wife, Kelly, of Fulton, Gerald Cox and wife, Jan, and Jimmy Cox, all of Saltillo, and Terry Cox of Olive Branch; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Billy Jarvis and Ray Jarvis; one granddaughter, Misty Cox; three sisters and one brother.

Pallbearers will be Bill Nesmith, Ray Thomas, Melvin Wages, Robert Wages and Brent Cox.

Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
