Tupelo - Gladys Marie Fancher Hooper, 98, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2017, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born in Columbus on September 25, 1919, to James and Maude Pace Fancher. Gladys was a professional bookkeeper and retired from Egger's Department Store as bookkeeper. She was married to her husband, Jewel, for 47 years prior to his death in 1984. She loved to play piano, drink coffee, and eat Three Musketeers bars. She was Baptist by faith.
Survivors include her niece, Gladys Fancher of Tupelo; great-great niece, Amanda Cook (Justin) of Tupelo; great-great-great nephew, Bentley Cook of Tupelo and two great-great-great nieces, Alaina and Makinsley Cook both of Tupelo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jewel Hooper.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Friendship Cemetery in Columbus.
