Gladys Crump

Macedonia - Gladys Virginia Crump, 93, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born September 20, 1924, to Claude and Bertha Drake Yeager. She was born in Houston and spent most of her life in the Macedonia Community. On December 18, 1954, she married Samuel J. Crump and they shared 37 years together prior to his passing on December 6, 1991. During her early years, Gladys worked at Long's Uniform Rental. She also spent many years babysitting the neighborhood children and helping raise all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren while always providing a safe loving home. She loved life and always found the positive in everyone and never missed an opportunity to tell others about her love for Jesus. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, spending time with her family, talking on the phone with her many friends and caring for her animals. She was the oldest charter member of Tri-County Baptist Church.



Survivors include one granddaughter, Kayla Orman and her husband, John of Guntown; two grandsons, Lonnie Hendrix and his fiancé, Louanne of the Macedonia Community, Roy Hendrix and his wife, Missy of Tupelo and six great-grandchildren, Madison Hendrix, Katlynn Orman, Alex Orman, Thomas Oswalt, Kayla Dysarz and Katy Oswalt.



She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Wayne Hendrix; one daughter-in-law, Judy Brewer Hendrix; a host of brothers and sisters.



Visitation will be 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2018, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.



Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 9, 2018, at Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Mike Brazeal and Rev. Chris Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.



Pallbearers will be Danny Coker, Larry Hutcheson, Roy Hendrix, Lonnie Hendrix, John Orman, Alex Orman and Thomas Oswalt.



The service will be live streamed and recorded for those who may not be able to attend at www.peguesfuneralhome.com .
