Saltillo - Gladys Coggins, 80, died Monday, August 9, 2010, at Baldwyn Nursing Facility after an extended illness. A Lee County native, she was born September 8, 1929. The widow of James Bill Coggins, she was a homemaker and enjoyed flowers, gardening, quilting and cooking. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the special time she spent with them. She was a longtime active member of Mayfield Church of Christ.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at The Saltillo Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Minister Clyde Mize officiating. Burial will be in Unity Cemetery, east of Saltillo.
Survivors include three sons, Tommy Coggins (Charlotte) of Unity, Billy Coggins (Barbara) of Ratliff, and Don Coggins of Arlington, Tex.; one daughter, Sherry Williams (Glenn) of Saltillo; two sisters, Doris Turner of Unity and Gloria Parker (Gerald) of Saltillo; 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Coggins and two children.
Pallbearers will be Allan Newcomb, Drew White, Daniel Williams, Eric Holcomb, Richard Whaley, Randy Siddall.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Saltillo Funeral Home.
