Houston—Gladys Virginia “Jen” Chenault passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was 84 years old. Jen was born in Houston on September 9, 1937 to James M. Callahan and Ruby Lavern Lawson Callahan. Immediately after her graduation from Woodland High School, she began her career with the South Central Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator. She continued in this field until her retirement, working as a data entry processor. Jen was a member of Lawson Chapel Church of Christ and she enjoyed cooking for her family and shopping.
Jen leaves behind her two sons, Donny Chenault and wife, Karen of Tupelo and James “Bubba” Chenault and wife Tiffany of Houston; five grandchildren, Christopher, Jonathan, Raquel, Chasity, and B.J.; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Rudolph Chenault; daughter, Anita Gail Chenault; brother, James “Red” Callahan; and a sister, Betty Parker.
The family will honor Jen’s life with a graveside service at 1 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2021 at McCondy Cemetery in Chickasaw County with Minister Lusky Green officiating. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
