GLADYS CARROLL CALDWELL
Tupelo - Gladys Carroll Caldwell, 95, died Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at Avonlea Assisted Living after a brief illness. A Tupelo native, she was born April 1, 1911 to the late Samuel T. and Beatrice L. Iverson Carroll. She was employed with the telephone company, McGaughs, and retired after 25 years at Sears. She was a member of First Christian Church for over 80 years where she served as Sunday School Director for ten years and emeritus to this day. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 2006 at First Christian Church with Rev. Ray Morton and Rev. Tim Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery with no graveside services. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include One daughter, Carroll Kaye "K.K."Horton of Tupelo; two grandchildren, Kristie Rhodes and husband, Dennis of Hattisburg, Kelly Montoya and husband, Eddie, of Virginia Beach, VA; great granddaughters, Emily and Ally Rhodes of Hattiesburg, and Gabriella Montoya of Virginia Beach, VA; one nephew, Robert Evans and wife, Pam, of Tupelo; and one great-nephew, Ryan Evans of Tupelo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Betty Sue Griffin; her husband, James W. Caldwell; two sisters, Florence Carroll and Floy Evans; and two brothers, Sam Carroll, Jr., and Jake Carroll.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Clift, Eddie Wayne Kelly, Charlie Neilson, Tommy Green, Sam Bell, Bart Cayson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Eddie Cayson, Robby Brazil, and the Avonlea Staff.
Visitation will be will continue at the church from 10 a.m. until service time. Wednesday.
