Ginger McCarty Arnold Tupelo- Mary Virginia "Ginger" McCarty Arnold died March 6, 2014 peacefully in the Reed Green House at Traceway Retirement Community. Ginger was born in Tupelo on May 4, 1946, to the late Bessie (Sissy) Rhodes McCarty and the late L. P. "Bud" McCarty. She graduated from Tupelo High School and attended Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia before graduating from the University of Mississippi with a B. S. degree in elementary education. For many years, she taught first grade at Jackson Academy in Jackson, MS, where she was beloved by her students and their parents. After returning to Tupelo, she taught kindergarten at First Methodist Church and tutored students at the Learning Skills Center; her special fields were teaching reading and working with students who were dyslexic. She again became an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Tupelo, where she taught young children in Sunday School. Ginger was an excellent cook who especially enjoyed preparing delicious meals for her family, and she was talented in the needle arts, creating lovely works of embroidery and needlepoint. Ginger was dedicated to her students and devoted to her family. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 10, 2014, at Tupelo Memorial Park with Dr. Ron Richardson officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements. She is survived by her two brothers, Leroy P. McCarty, Jr. and his wife Lou Ann and Richard R. McCarty and his wife Karen both of Tupelo; two nephews, Pearce McCarty and his wife Lisa of Minneapolis and Richmond McCarty and his wife Emily of Tupelo; and four grand-nephews and two grand-nieces. Visitation will be 4 - 6 p.m., Sunday, March 9, 2014, in McFadden Hall at the First Presbyterian Church in Tupelo. Memorials may be made to Sanctuary Hospice House, P.O.
