Mineral Bluff, Georgia- Dr. Thomas Gilmer Garmon, retired dentist and former Tupelo resident, died Wednesday, February 17, 2021, due to COVID-19 complications, at the age of 63. Born on April 28, 1957, Gil was the son of the late Bobby and Mary Tom Garmon.

Gil was born and raised in Tupelo, where he proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a University of Alabama graduate. During his undergraduate he was a Bama football trainer and member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. After graduation he continued to be an avid Bama football fan. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree from the University of Alabama’s School of Dentistry.

Gil enjoyed golf, travel, Western movies, home projects, food and wine, but most of all his family and friends.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Leigh of 36 years; son, Thomas, Jr.; sister, Kay and her husband, Scott; niece, Kaitlin and her husband, Ty; nephew, Blake; brother, Bob and his wife, Sandra; and nieces, Lindsey and Niki.

Private family graveside services will be held Monday, March 1, 2021 at Tupelo Memorial Park. A public memorial service will be held at a later date. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dr. Gil’s memory to Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.), P.O. Box 25081 Tampa, FL 33622.
