New Albany - Geraldine Maxine Matyas, 95, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018, at her residence. She was born in Morgantown, West Virginia August 27, 1922, to Tony Pratt and Leatha Ann Shears. In 1945, she married John Matyas.
Survivors include two children, David Maytas and his wife, Jane of Brooksville, Florida, Dixie Simmons and her husband, and David of New Albany; five grandchildren, Kinder Elise McDaniel of Huntsville, Alabama, Kathryn Lynn Hughes of Jackson, Brian Maytas of Brooksville, Jeffrey Maytas of Eagle Lake, Florida and Michael Maytas and his wife, Amanda of Brooksville; six great-grandchildren, Carrie Lynn Griffin and her husband, Dylan of Charleston, South Carolina, Amy Elise Pearson of Petal and Sophie Leigh Hoppock of Richmond, Virginia, Haley Maytas and Madison Maytas of Brooksville; three great-great-grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Griffin, Dylan Jackson Griffin and Jake Donald Pearson; and three siblings, Arthur Pratt and wife, Dorothy of Mentor, Ohio, Ruby Fortney of Pennsylvania, and Irene Greco of Menlo Park, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and six siblings, Martha Rodenish, Carl Pratt, Foster Pratt, Eugene Pratt, Donald Pratt, Jackie Pratt.
