TupeloGerald Clinton McDaniel, Sr., 72, died Thursday, March 15, 2012, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. A Lee County native and lifelong resident, he was born May 31, 1939, to Clinton Lidelle and Clara Wilson McDaniel. On May 9, 1957, he married Muriel Hester McDaniel. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and the Mississippi National Guard. He worked as a tool and die maker at Kruger Industries and Super Sagless. He had been a member of Bissell Baptist Church for over 55 years. He enjoyed working on old cars. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Roger Smith Officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Pontotoc. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Muriel Hester McDaniel; his daughter, Tracey Flournoy (Larry) of Mooreville; his son, Clint McDaniel (Vicki) of Blue Mountain; his sister, Mary Evelyn Holcomb of Byhalia; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents and two granddaughters. Pallbearers will be Jim Carter, Tommy Wilson, Jerry Mancill, Jerry Ruffin, Shane Metcalfe, and Jim Barnes. His grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
