Blue Springs - Georgia Williams, 88, died Thursday, December 9, 2010, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A native of Booneville, she was born September 28, 1922, to George Washington Darwin and Blanche Lee Sewell Darwin. In 1943, she graduated from Sherman High School. She worked for Black and White Department Store and also worked in the children's department of Reed's for nearly 20 years. She was a happy crafty homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed cake decorating, gardening and sewing. She was a member of Locust Hill Baptist Church.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Locust Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Sammy Little officiating. Rev. Glen Reeder will deliver a eulogy. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Lou Williams of Brooklyn, NY; her son, Anthony Charles Williams of Hamilton, Ala.; two sisters, Olivia Howell of Booneville and Sue Brooks of Belden; a sister-in-law, Mattie Lee Williams of Blue Springs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Washington Darwin and Blanche Lee Sewell Darwin; her husband, Charles Reise Williams who died August 4, 2005; her brother Jesse Darwin; and her sister, Mildred Whitten.
The body will lie in state one hour prior to service time at the church.
