George Winders

Verona - George Irvin Winders, 57, died Sunday, October 4, 2009, at his home after a sudden illness. He was born March 9, 1952 in Lee County to Clarence George and Jo Bell Irvin Winders. A graduate of Nettleton High School, he then went on to Mississippi State University where he graduated with a degree in marketing. He worked as manager for Burleson's Greenhouse. He had lived in Verona for 23 years. He enjoyed flower gardening and computers, but the joy of his life was his ten grandchildren. He was a member of Palestine Baptist Church in Nettleton.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Tommy Winders officiating.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Susan Potts Winders of Verona; two daughters, Ashley Hogan (Jonathan) of Guntown and Kim Weaver (Todd) of Shannon; his son, Kevin Lothorp (Kim) of Tupelo; one brother, Wiley Winders (Andrea) of Marietta, Ga.; ten grandchildren, Christian and Alyssa Tutor, Bentley Stephens, Jamison Parker, Michael Fondren, Autumn Weaver, Kasey Manley, Cameron Weaver, Kaden Lothorp, Klay Lothorp; a sister-in-law, Sis Estes of Shannon; a host of nieces and nephews; a special friend, Danny Dorman of Marietta; a special niece and nephew, James and Karen Burleson of Shannon.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be James Burleson, Mark Burleson, Jeff Burleson, Ken Estes, Joey Estes, Bobby Hall, and David Hall.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Tupelo-Lee County Humane Society.
