GEORGE S. MILLER Mooreville - George S. Miller, 79, died Thursday evening, February 7, 2013, at the Sanctuary Hospice House after a lengthy illness. A Nettleton native, he was born March 16, 1933 to Robert Davies and Mary Laforie Williams Miller. He was a 1952 graduate of Mooreville High School. After graduating from High School, he began his stellar military career with the United States Army and later joined the United States Air Force where he retired as a Staff Sergeant. Upon his retirement from military service, he owned and operated Miller's Machine and Welding Shop and was known throughout the community for his ability and talent in being able to fix or repair most anything. After retiring, he remained active around the family farm raising cattle and growing and selling hay. He was a member of the Richmond Masonic Lodge #97, a Scottish Rite, and a Shriner. He was a long time member of Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2013, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Sammy Washburn and Rev. Jim Manley officiating. Graveside services with Masonic rites will follow in Andrews Chapel Cemetery. He was survived by one sister, Bobbie Gene Miller of Mooreville. Pallbearers will be Craig Pearce, Riley Farris, David Estes, Jimmy Sheffield, Jeff Thomas, Phil Byram, Phillip Williams and Byram Morgan. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Richmond Masonic Lodge, James Tucker and Jimmy Hussey. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013, at the funeral home.
