GEORGE EUGENE HINTON
Tupelo - George Eugene Hinton, 62, died Monday, February 26, 2007, at Golden Living Center after an extended illness. A Lee Co. native, he was born February 22, 1945 to the late C.J. and Dorothy Maxine Grubbs Hinton Harper. He was a special person who enjoyed spending time with his family and playing with his nieces and nephews. He had a fondness for community service workers and his heros were policemen and firemen. He was a member of Doty Chapel Baptist Church.
Services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Jack Ezell officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery.
Survivors include a sister, Flora Maxine Loden of Shannon; aunts and uncles, Betty and Mayo Grubbs, Jerry and Debra Grubbs, all of Shannon, F.T. and Opal Grubbs of Georgia; two nieces, Cornelia Franklin and husband, Don, of Shannon, Nancy Hawkins and family; a nephew, Ricky Loden and wife, Shawna, of Shannon; numerous great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, A.J. Harper; his grandparents, Theron and Cornelia Grubbs and Clifford and Betty Hinton; a brother, Carl Thompson Hinton; a nephew, Joey Hinton; and a great-nephew, D. J. McAllister.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Loden, Christopher Hughes, Wlliam McAllister, James Oswalt, Bennie Grubbs, and Ricky Grubbs.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and 2 p.m. until service time Wednesday.
